As of 1 January 2021, the import of agri-food products (animals, plants, products of animal origin, feed...) will be subject to the same sanitary and phytosanitary requirements and controls as imports from any third country. These requirements include:
- The obligation that the importation be carried out through an airport or port that has a Border Control Post authorized for the category of product to be imported.
- The need for the departure to be accompanied by an Official Phytosanitary or Veterinary Certificate.
- Payment of fees for phytosanitary or veterinary controls.
Upon arrival at the border control post, all consignments are subjected to controls, which may include a documentary, identity and physical control.
