With regard to the first question, in principle, the United Kingdom will apply the same rules to the importation of products covered by PDO or PGI (wines, spirits and agri-food products) as to the import of similar products without a geographical indication.
Regarding the protection of their names, the Withdrawal Agreement establishes that, as of 31 December 2020, the PDOs and PGIs of the European Union registered and therefore legally protected in the Community territory will enjoy the same level of protection in the United Kingdom as the degree of protection granted by European regulations. However, new PDOs / PGIs that are registered in the EU as of 1 January 2021 must be registered in the UK under its own legislation.
